so close to the end of my freshman year. very exciting. 3 finals to own. I’m also buying back textbooks to make a little money before summer. and I got news that I may be getting a summer internship at a hospital near home. all in all, its been a good day and hopefully it’ll be a good week!

it’s a lot of fun! so much to do. carnival, picnics, games, rez hall rumbles, lazer tag, big concert, etc. etc. etc. And not to mention some midnight quad mudsliding! :D

Basketball games all winter! Go to the mall and/or movies on the weekends. SEB/Late Night Sarazen events (Bingo, movies, casino night, etc.). SienaFest! There’s a ton to do!

How stressful are finals in the college setting?

Depends on who you are. For me, it’s more stress than say, standardized test, NYS Regents, etc. But I deal with it and hammer through finals. It’s a tough couple weeks, but I keep the 4 months of summer break in mind.

As the semester gets closer to ending, I’ve been getting more and more work, so i’ve been very very busy. This weekend is Siena Fest, that will be a nice break, then grinding for the last couple weeks and I’ll be home for the summer.

I was in the same boat, but it’s really easy to adjust to. When you do get assigned your room mate, get in contact with them ASAP, via e-mail, facebook, texting, etc. You’ll have most of the summer to talk and be prepared for the fall. Of course you’ll both have to both make compromises and respect each other, but again, it’s really easy to adjust to.

what is your favorite class and why?

Foundations is currently my favorite class. Yes, you have to read and write a handful essays, but it’s structured mostly around class discussion and two sided topics that can be argued either way. It refreshing to be in a class where you kind of lead your way through the class and the professor is really there to steer discussions rather than to drone on about boring things that are irrelevant to our lives today.

How do you handle the long distance relationship with your girlfriend? I have a girlfriend right now who i love and want to continue to have a relationship with but i dont know what to expect with being at different colleges.

Anyways, just the the shift from high school to college, it’s not easy, but by all means it is definitely possible. We knew that we were going to be a decent distance away, and that wouldn’t see each other all the time. We gave it a shot, and it’s been working out great! We go weeks without seeing each other in person, but I go out to Syracuse every once in a while and she’s been here, and most of our breaks are at the same time. If going to visit each other is a possibility, take full advantage of it. We get a 3 day weekend each semester here at Siena, and that is the perfect opportunity.

For all the time in between, I have one word of advice. Skype. Get it. Use it often. It’s not quite the same as being together, but you get to see each other and talk. I Skype with my girlfriend at least every other night, if not every night.

Excuse me, because I’m about to be super cheesy and stereotypical, but if you both are dedicated to the relationship and love each other, you can do it no problem!

I’m not going to say it was easy, because it definitely is not. But you have to approach college with the mindset that the work is going to be difficult, and there is going to be more of it. I feel that the biggest difference between college and high school is being able to manage your time efficiently. As long as you make time during the week to get most of your work done, it won’t seem like too much.
